The born 2024: The Koch family celebrates success in SchilcherWeinbau

The Koch family from Aichegg, known as Hartlschneider, can look back on an exciting year in viticulture. The new year in the wine tanks literally cheers and ensures great joy in the household. Heinz, Simone and Elias Koch are very happy about the harvest and the success they achieved in wine production.

In particular, the family has a great preference for the Schilcher, a special wine species that is produced in this region. While Elias found his passion and calling in viticulture, his brother Raphael is more interested in technical areas. Elias, the 23-year-old, explains his commitment: "We are a pure Schilcherbetrieb."

training and success in viticulture

Elias has acquired extensive knowledge at the technical school for fruit and viticulture Silberberg, which he now uses in the family business. The family is proud that they not only produce alcoholic products, but also dried fruit juices that were awarded a silver medal at the last state rating in the "Juice - Most - Edelbrand" category. "The Blue Wildbacher grape variety is ideal for grape juice production," says Heinz and Elias.

The Josefi wine award in Bad Schwanberg brought the Koch family into the final with two wines - a Schilcher classic and the Schilcher Ried Haderberg. This was another expression of her successful wine production this year. In addition, the Schilcher Klassik West Styria DAC 2023 was awarded one of the six best in the country at the renowned state wine rating. This shows the resistance of the operation and the high quality of the wine, which has been kept constant since 2003.

The future of viticulture

Elias Koch did everything to cut off successfully at the "Young Winzer of the Styrian Sparkasse" election, and although this year it was not enough for the title, he celebrated the excellent second place in the Schilcher category. His goal is clear: to keep the quality of the wines and continue to produce at a high level. Elias currently completed a master training in viticulture and cellar economy to protect the tradition of the family.

Passion for wine production runs through the family, as well as the love of music. Heinz, Raphael and Elias are active members in the Bad Schwanberg - St. Peter syndicate. Elias plays the train trombone, Raphael is the first drummer and Heinz blows the tenor horn. Even as a horn master of the Bad Schwanberg hunting horn play group, Heinz is active and, with his Styrian harmonica, ensures joy on many occasions.

The Koch family not only demonstrates engagement in agriculture, but also in the community and the cultural activities of the region, while at the same time ensuring the quality and success of their wines. Elias and his family therefore stand for excellent Schilcher, but also for a lively local tradition, on www.meinbezirk.at reports .
