BG/Borg Deutschlandsberg: Sixth award as an ecological school
In November, two representatives of the BG/Borg Deutschlandsberg, Karin Stiegler and Birgit Scherz took part in a networking meeting of the Styrian ecological schools in the Styria University. There they received the coveted ecological certificate for their school community. This award shows that the school is committed to sustainable solutions and actively works for environmental protection.
It is particularly noteworthy that the BG/BORG Deutschlandsberg has received this award for the sixth time in a row. A total of 760 schools in Austria are now part of the ecological network, which deals with a wide range of ecological, social and economic issues. The school pursues an exemplary approach to environmental education, which is reflected in regular projects.commitment to the environment
at the BG/Borg Deutschlandsberg, the topic of sustainability has been very important for several years. Every school year, the teachers set a special focus to specifically integrate environmental education into class. In the past school year, an exciting project called "Actionbound" was launched, which dealt with the topic of water from different perspectives and was even awarded the "Fair Young Styria Prize". This commitment testifies to the endeavor to bring both local and global topics into class.
For the school year 2024/25, the focus is on "Animal protection makes school". The first class students have already completed a "PET Buddy course", while the second class will take part in the children's animal protection conference next June. In addition, the topic of "food waste" is used in the upper level across classes and project -oriented. The result of these projects is eagerly awaited.
The networking meeting not only offered the possibility of awarding the document; It also included informative lectures on current topics such as waste management and circular economy. This form of knowledge transfer is crucial to sensitize students to the challenges of our time and to develop practical solutions. Talks to exchange experiences and ideas were also offered at various stations, which underlines the commitment of schools for ecological education.
