SOS Children's Village warns: only 300 pediatricians for 1.8 million people affected!

Innsbruck, Österreich - Health care for children and adolescents in Austria is under pressure. Currently there are only 300 treasurer for around 1.8 million children and young people in the country. This leads to a worrying situation in which many affected therapy places have to wait months. The organization Dolomitenstadt reported on the protest campaign in Innsbruck to draw attention to these missions. The initiator of the campaign is the SOS Children's Village, which started a petition to draw attention to the missing cash kind doctors.

"Health care in Austria works in poor," criticizes Christian Rudisch, the managing director of SOS Children's Village. In Tyrol, for example, only 23 child doctors are active, 40% of whom do not accept new patients. In order to counter the defect, Rudisch demands a "rapid emergency plan" from those responsible. The petition has already found 7,000 supporters and is handed over to the political decision -makers as soon as 10,000 signatures have been reached.

Overcrowded outpatient clinics are the result, and many pediatricians face the challenge of looking after a high number of patients in unattractive working conditions.
