Summer school in Vienna: 10,665 students start on August 18!

The summer school in Vienna starts on August 18, 2025 and offers a valuable opportunity for students to continue their education in German, mathematics, English and material lessons. A total of 10,665 students take part in this program, which are organized in 943 groups at 93 locations. The students are supported by 731 educators as well as 235 teacher students and 42 "buddies" who will help voluntarily. These buddies are students from the 5th school level and are used in the learning groups to promote the learning process and support the teachers. According to wien.gv.at, a learning group consists of 6 to 15 students, which enables individual support.

The overarching goal of the summer school 2025 is the deepening of the learning material and the promotion of talents. Through individual learning plans and targeted language support, the students should be prepared for the coming school year as best as possible. The summer school takes place in the last two weeks of the summer vacation, with the period from 18 to 29 August in Vienna. In the other federal states, such as Carinthia and Salzburg, the lessons are planned the following week, between August 25 and September 5, 2025, as reported.

The subjects of German, mathematics and material lessons are offered in the elementary schools. For students of the AHS substance, Central and Special School, the focus is on German, mathematics and English. The registrations for the summer school took place directly at the main schools. Particular attention is paid to the buddies: These students receive valuable insights into the profession of educators and can receive up to 3 ECTS assessment points for future teaching studies. In order to promote the interest of the buddies, you also get the opportunity to gain experience at universities and in teaching studies.

The range of teaching includes both project -oriented and language -sensitive teaching methods, which enable the students to promote targeted support. A central aspect are the small learning groups that guarantee individual care and strengthen social skills.
