SCR Altach on the brink: Can the change of coach still save?

In the current season, SCR Altach is showing worrying performances in the Bundesliga. Five rounds before the end of the season, the club is at the bottom of the qualifying group and has only collected 12 points so far. The team proved this once again last Tuesday when they lost 0-1 against WSG Tirol and thus continued to retain the Red Lantern. In this encounter, Valentino Müller scored the decisive goal in the 35th minute for WSG, which is now four points ahead of Altach in the table.

The statistics for Altach are alarming: under former coach Joachim Standfest, the team only collected 8 points in 8 games, which corresponds to an average point of 1. His successor, Fabio Ingolitsch, only managed 12 points in 18 games, which means an even lower average of 0.67 points per game. Under Ingolitsch, the changes in tactics, which switched to a 4-3-1-2 system, did not have the hoped-for success.

Difficult starting position

SCR Altach's record against direct competitors is also alarming: in eight matches there was only one win, three draws and four defeats. In half of these direct duels the team even failed to score. Such statistics could be an indication to those responsible that an impulse is urgently needed to avert the impending relegation. The remaining five games must be used to turn things around.

The next game against WSG Tirol will take place on Saturday, a duel that could be of vital importance for Altach. In the season so far, the WSG has won all three previous encounters against Altach. The fact that the upcoming part of the well-known rivalry between the teams brings with it particular pressure could put a lot of pressure on both players and fans in the crucial phase.

Coach changes and their effects

The decision to appoint a new coach, Ingolitsch, is not atypical for clubs that find themselves in a similar situation. Statistics show that late coaching changes often only lead to the desired success in a few cases. In the last eleven seasons, a total of 13 clubs changed coaches shortly before the end of the season, but in the majority of cases the hoped-for impulse does not take effect. For example, only two out of thirteen teams improved after such a change.

Altach now has to face the challenge of improving the situation. The difficulties in the offensive game and the lack of pressure must be dealt with as quickly as possible in order to secure relegation. The statistics are brutal and remind those responsible that time is short.

In summary, it remains to be seen whether SCR Altach can hope for an upswing in the upcoming games. Saturday's game against WSG Tirol will be crucial for the club's future. Will the adjustments under Ingolitsch be enough to turn things around in one of the final games, or is relegation inevitable?
