Salzburger Lungau GmbH: New impulses for tourism in Lungau
At the latest general assembly of the Lungau Salzburg Land tourism association, which took place on October 22nd in the Gamswirt hall in Tamsweg, a new board was elected and exciting projects were presented. Chairman Richard Binggl opened the meeting and determined the proper quorum, followed by the approval of the protocol of the last meeting.
A central topic of the meeting was the foundation of Salzburger Lungau GmbH, which will be launched on July 1, 2024. This organization will gradually take on the tasks of the previous holiday region Lungau. Managing Director Susanne Duschek-Fercher explained the key points of the new structure and emphasized that an operational budget of around 1.4 million euros per year is planned. The GmbH's offices will be located in St. Michael, on Raikaplatz, below the TVB office.
brand presence and marketing strategies
Marketing manager Bernd Waldauer presented a new brand appearance for the region, the focus is particularly on the cool summer nights that are to be advertised. A targeted increase in the degree of awareness of the region is to be achieved, with a view of central markets such as Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands. The marketing budget was more than doubled compared to 2022. Waldauer also informed about the successful completion of the 2023/24 winter season, which ended with an increase of 3 percent compared to the previous year. In the current summer season, the number of overnight stays is slightly behind the previous year, but stays are longer than with other Salzburg destinations.
The positive assessment for the upcoming winter season was shared by the management. The prices in Lungau are cheaper compared to other regions, and the skiing world championship in Saalbach could have a positive effect on the number of visitors. A look back on past events was also given, and there were discussions about the planned activities in the coming year. However, some participants critically commented on the scope of the presentations at trade fairs.
Financial stability and board elections
Financial officer Thomas Rest presented a balanced result in the financial report, which made the board easier. The budget for 2025, with a desired budget of around 2.375 million euros, was also approved. As part of the meeting, a new committee with twelve members was also elected, which then formed the new board.
The new board consists of Richard Binggl as chairman, Stefan Krist as his deputy, Thomas Rest as a finance officer as well as Daniel Kaufmann and Mayor DI Andreas Kaiser. These personnel changes could ensure a breath of fresh air in Lungau tourism.
