Sternsinger campaign 2025: Blessing for children in Nepal!
from December 27, 2024 to January 6, 2025, the "Heilige three kings" are back in Austria. The star singers move through the streets in colorful robes and bring the blessing for the new year. However, this traditional campaign of the Catholic young is more than just a symbolic act - it stands for an important call for donations. This year, the donations collected will flow primarily into projects that support child protection and the training of young people in Nepal, reported the Archdiocese of Salzburg.
a blessing for nepal
The star singing campaign celebrates its 71st anniversary in 2025, with around 10,000 committed children and adults in the Archdiocese of Salzburg alone. In 2024, even over two million euros could be "reverus". In Nepal, a country in which almost half of the population lives below the poverty line, the donations are used to enable children to train and to protect them from exploitation. The partner organizations Yuwalaya and Opportunity Village Nepal are working intensively to bring them closer to children and create safe learning locations. Children's clubs offer space to defend themselves against violence and exploitation and to learn what is necessary for a better life, as is reported on Salzburg.jungschar.at.
In the Lungau communities, numerous actions will also take place when the star singers are traveling in different parishes to bring God's blessing and ask for donations. This campaign lives from the support of the population - everyone can contribute, be it through active participants or through financial donations. The collected funds not only help in Nepal, but also make a far -reaching contribution to improving the living conditions of many people in the global south.
