Hope through community: Students help the Gruber family in need
The students of the Winklhof technical school support the Gruber family with a relief campaign after a tragic accident. Together they make Advent wreaths and collect donations for the affected family.

Hope through community: Students help the Gruber family in need
In Oberalm and Rußbach, the life of the Gruber family has changed drastically. Wolfgang and Sabine Gruber had fulfilled their dream of owning their own farm and were full of confidence when they bought the old farm to prepare it according to their ideas. But a serious accident shattered their plans: Wolfgang had an accident while working on the farm and fell seven meters, which resulted in serious spinal injuries. These injuries now make it impossible for him to manage the farm as planned. Sabine now faces the difficult task of caring for her husband as well as looking after the farm and her son.
Students from the Winklhof agricultural college heard about this tragic story and immediately felt motivated to help the Gruber family. The upcoming holidays prompted the students to make an Advent wreath to give the family a little ray of hope. They quickly came up with the idea of making not just one, but several Advent wreaths and using them to support the proceeds.
Student aid campaign
The students began collecting fir branches and other greenery, and after the fall break they began busy tying and decorating. So far they have sold more than 100 wreaths, but their resources are now almost exhausted. Nevertheless, the goal of the aid remains their top priority, which is why they are asking for further support from the community. The money will be used to help the Gruber family during this difficult time.
There are also some immediate challenges that the Grubers have to overcome: the farm stock is old, the farmhouse desperately needs renovations, and the sanitary facilities are not handicapped accessible. Measures are currently underway to adapt the structural conditions to Wolfgang's needs.
The students would like to appeal to all readers to support the campaign by donating money. For this purpose, three gourmet boxes with homemade products from the agricultural school will be raffled off among all donations. “Together we are strong and can give the family hope,” says their appeal.
Words from those involved
Maria Buchegger, head of department at the technical school, commented on the aid campaign: "The young farming family had dreams just like our students. These were thwarted in one fell swoop. We want to set a small example here."
Some of the committed students, Julia Ebner and Anna Frankenberger, also emphasized: "We learn a lot of technical things at Winklhof, this campaign teaches us a lot about humanity. Together we can make a difference." Class teacher Daniela Rettenegger agreed with these words and thanked everyone who helped with the campaign and the preparation.
