Sustainable construction projects: wood as the key to modern architecture
An interesting excursion recently led about 50 participants into the world of modern timber construction, where the versatility and sustainability of wood were in focus as building material. The starting point was the Schön View clinic in Stanggass, which is currently being expanded by two new bed houses in wooden construction. The client Nuri Irshaid, represented by Dr. Wimmer Verwaltungs GmbH, emphasized: "It was clear to us from the beginning to build in wood. We never thought of relying on another building material." The building material used comes directly from your own forest, which is not only ecologically sensible, but also benefits the local economic cycle.
But the excursion was not exclusively in Stanggass. The next goal was the new community center in Fridolfing. A multifunctional building was built there in solid wood construction. In part of the center you will find a library, parish rooms, clubs and even a climbing wall. In the other part of the building, offers for the youth and the music band are housed. High demands on sound insulation and space acoustics had to be met, which was achieved by the use of board wood and board stacking elements.
Various wooden construction projects in the focus
Another station of the excursion was the kindergarten in Mattsee, where special attention was paid to the needs of children and employees. Mayor Michael Schwarzmayr explained that the pleasant atmosphere that you can feel when you enter the building was mainly due to the wood used. This material is not only sustainable, but also offers a cozy indoor climate that is of great importance for young users.
At the end of the exploration tour, the district administration of Salzburg-Environment was visited in Seekirchen. This building is now considered a figurehead for modern administrative design. It not only convinces the employees, but also the citizens who appreciate the pleasant and innovative construction. Salzburg's governor Dr. Wilfried Haslauer praised it as an "absolute lighthouse project".
The excursion to these outstanding timber construction projects offered the participants the opportunity to gain valuable insights into the latest trends in construction. As part of the EU-funded Interreg Bayern-Austria program, the exchange across borders should continue to help innovative construction projects to continue to promote sustainable construction in the region in the future. Information on the places visited and their construction methods are at www.berchtesgadenerzeiger.de available.
