A look back: the last Krampus show in Hallein
Last weekend, the last show of the Untersberg Krampusse took place in Hallein in Hallein, an event that attracted many visitors. The idea, under the motto "One Last Showtime", was listed on two evenings and marked the end of a traditional series of events. Our photographer Marco recorded the most impressive moments of the show, which was characterized by her lively presentation and the impressive costumes. The Untersberg Krampusse, an association that maintains the tradition of running Krampus, informed in advance about this special event. The show offered the audience a colorful spectacle that is deeply rooted in regional culture. Krampusse, which appeared in elaborate and often scary costumes, traditionally move through the streets during the Advent season to keep the old customs alive with their representation.
A tradition leans to the end
This last performance is an emotional farewell for many. Krampusse are not only keepers of customs, but also part of numerous festivities that take place in winter. In recent years, such events have developed into a popular attraction for tourists and local Alike.
The decision to no longer perform the Untersberg Krampusse has caused mixed feelings to be mixed with the residents. The appearances were often a highlight of the Christmas season and strengthened the sense of community in the region, one could argue. The last two evenings in the Ziegelstadl were therefore used by many as an opportunity to exchange memories and to absorb the special atmosphere of the event.
The combination of clinking snow and the noise of the bells, which were worn by the Krampuses, was visually impressive. These elements together created an unforgettable mood that embodied the tradition and spirit of the pre -Christmas period. While this last show may mean the end of a chapter, the memory of the Untersberg Krampusse will certainly remain alive in the hearts of people. In the Ziegelstadl, visitors not only had the opportunity to experience the Krampusse up close, but also appreciate the cultural importance of running Krampus. These events not only promote local identity, but also offer a space for artistic forms of expression and sense of community, as was emphasized several times.
