Call up of 38,000 cars: Motor problems endanger Austria's driver!

Österreich - A comprehensive recall campaign started in Austria on July 4, 2025, in which more than 38,000 vehicles are affected. The reason for the recall is a voluntary measure by the car manufacturer Stellantis, which provides for an expansion of the guarantee for certain engines. Affected people in particular are vehicles with 1.5-liter Bluehdi diesel engines that were produced between October 2017 and January 2023.

The callback includes a total of 38,188 vehicles , which are to be checked in contract workshops. This campaign is an extended guarantee of up to ten years or 240,000 kilometers. The affected brands are Citroen, DS Automobiles, Fiat, Opel and Peugeot. Stellantis plans to inform customers in writing.

engine damage due to early wear

In Germany, around 141,700 vehicles are also affected that have the same problem. As the ADAC reports, the camshaft chain can wear out early on what could lead to engine damage. The recall campaign is also carried out voluntarily and is therefore not listed in the official CLOSS DATE BUTTER of the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA), as the KBA explains on its website.

Every manufacturer leads his recall campaign under an individual recall code. Stellantis has also set up an online platform that is available to all brand owners to check whether their vehicle is affected. The workshop visits to check are free.

information and obligations to act

The vehicle owners concerned will be contacted by letter or email from July. First, the older vehicles are checked because the risk of damage is highest here. The KBA makes it clear that manufacturers have to inform about defects and is responsible for monitoring the recall actions.

The KBA obtains information about potential risks through product tests, reports from manufacturers and information from the public. In the event of serious dangers, you are legally obliged to order recruitment measures. Vehicle holders must participate in the recall actions in order to avoid possible operating lessons. Your data is treated strictly according to data protection guidelines.

Vehicle owners who are unsure whether your vehicle is affected by the recall or have the questions about traffic safety should contact the manufacturer or an authorized workshop.
