RMS Titanic: Wrack threatens to disappear completely by 2030!

The RMS Titanic, the famous passenger ship, which sank tragically in 1912, has been on the seabed of the North Atlantic at 3,800 meters for over 100 years. According to the researchers, the wreck will have disappeared completely by 2030 at the latest. These statements come from the recent discoveries of an international research team at Oceangate Titanic Survey Expedition, which documents the progressive decline of the wreck.

In recent years, the decay of the famous ship has accepted dramatic proportions. Parts of the wreck, including the captain's bathroom, have already collapsed. The causes of this decomposition are millions of microorganisms that are generally referred to as "rusticles" and disintegrate the iron of the wreck. The decay is considered inevitable, especially on the bow of the ship, where massive damage was found, including a large gap on the side side. An approximately four and a half meter long piece of the railing has been lost and is now on the sea floor, as can be seen from the recent photos and videos of exploration.

new expedition and maintenance of artifacts

A new team of researchers, organized by RMS Titanic, Inc., set out to explore the wreck again. This organization has the rescue rights for the Titanic since the 1990s and will use Rovs (remote-controlled underwater vehicles), which are equipped with high-resolution 65K cameras, during this mission. These ROVs are supposed to create digital scans of the wreck and search for signs of further deterioration or new rubble fields. Special attention is paid to a debris field that has so far been little researched and the Marconi radio that the famous SOS signal of the Titanic broadcast.

The exploration is carried out over 20 days on the offshore ship Dino Chouest. With this mission, the team plans to discover and document many artifacts, including possibly luggage from passengers. The company also documents the finds on social media to let the public participate in the discoveries.

memorial ceremony for the victims

An important part of the expedition will be a memorial ceremony that is held on the wreck to commemorate the victims of the doom and the person recently died in the titanium implosion. In honor of Paul-Henri Nargeolet, the company's research director, a plaque is also attached to the sea floor.

Titanic remains an important symbol of luxury, technology and tragedy, while its condition continues to focus on scientists and those interested in history. The downfall on the night of April 15, 1912 called for the life of 1,514 of the 2,220 people on board and remains a tragic episode of shipping history.

The decay of the wreck and the associated destruction of the maritime biodiversity in the area represents not only a cultural but also an ecological threat. The ecosystem that has formed around the Titanic is also at risk and is observed closely by the researchers. This decay is another incentive for the documentation mission, which wants to capture the remaining part of a once magnificent ship. The Titanic will soon be completely swallowed off the ocean.
