Parliament organizes commemorative events for victims of the Nazi regime

In the week from October 14th to 18th, 2022, various events take place in the Austrian Parliament, which take up important topics and make honors. One of them is the presidential conference, which deals with the new seating order in the National Council.

Furthermore, a delegation of Austrian MPs participates in the 149th Assembly of the Interparliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva. At this meeting, the focus is on science, technology and innovation.

A special honor will take place on October 14th, namely the awarding of the great golden honorary sign of honor on the ribbon to the EU Parliament President Roberta Metsola. She receives this award for her services to the Republic of Austria.

The 70th anniversary of the Association of the Association of the "German Old Austrian Landsmanships in Austria" (VLÖ) is also celebrated. As part of this event, a round of talks with the parliamentary parties are also planned.

An important focus of the week is to commemorate the victims of National Socialism. The parliament acts as an event location for two significant events: On the one hand, the first conference of the National Fund of the Republic of Austria with the title "Memory and Responsibility" takes place. The future design of commemoration in Austria is discussed here. On the other hand, the exhibition "from life is torn from life on Tuesday evening. This exhibition is designed in cooperation with the International Memorial Yad Vashem and can be visited by visitors: inside of Parliament until November 10th.
