Austria's biathletes starting up: Hope for podium places!

In Hochfilzen, the new biathlon season 2024/25 begins with shared results for the Austrian team. The men, led by Simon Eder, who is considered the "last Mohican" of the "Golden Generation" this season, have so far had difficulty prevailing in competition. Eder, who describes his performance as rather inconsistent, achieves a 13th place in Kontiolahti, which, however, is not considered a sophisticated sense of achievement afterwards. The pressure on men increases, because after disappointing placements and only one top 10 rank last season, every improvement is required. Felix Leitner, also in the contingent, hopes to return after a difficult time and sees in addition to personal efforts also potential for improvement in the material.

In the meantime,

the Austrian ladies show promising potential. Anna Gandler, who is considered a hope of hope, would like to reach her first podium this season, even if she had to struggle with health problems before the start of the season. Dominik Landertinger, former star of the biathlon, emphasizes the development of the women's team. The young athletes, supported by their new trainer Reinhard Gösweiner, have shown promising progress in the preparation. Landertinger believes that Gandler and her teammates, who already reached numerous top positions last season, are able to win a medal.

In the meantime, there is also news in the men's team that loses experience and talent. Young talents such as Fabian Müllauer, who is planning his debut competition in the World Cup, are supposed to close the gap. Müller is temporarily replaced by Fredrik Mühlbacher, who also makes a promising debut. The competition for places and internal competition in the Austrian team are encouraging signs for a better season. For example, the team hopes for solid results at the World Cup start in the Kontiolahti and improvements in the course of the season, not least with a view to the World Cup in Lenzerheide, where the medal opportunities of the Austrian biathletes appear very realistic.

Targeted improvement in the results is emphasized by sports director Mario Stecher. The coming week will offer Austria's biathletes the opportunity to prove themselves in high felts and break new ground in order to let their years of ambitions blossoming again in the biathlon environment, as has already been shown with a strong team of women. The hopes are great that the local relay, traditionally a figurehead of the Austrian biathlon, can score and maybe even reach the long -awaited podium.
