According to the election debacle: SPÖ strengthens women's rights in Upper Austria

According to the disappointing result of the SPÖ in the 2024 National Council elections, in which the party is the third strongest force in Austria, an intensive internal analysis now comes to the fore. Eva Maria Holzleitner, a committed politician from Pichl, was selected to represent the topics of women's rights and the Upper Austria region in the exploratory team. The 31-year-old believes that September 29, 2024 was not a joyful day for her and sees the urgency to thoroughly examine the reasons for the election defeat and to set new thematic focus.

Holzleitner is part of a team of five, which also includes the SPÖ top candidate Andreas Babler and prominent members such as the second National Council President Doris Bures and club chairman Philip Kucher. In a conversation, she emphasizes that she is ready to perceive her responsibility to bring women rights into the negotiations and to represent the interests of Upper Austria. "Of course this is a great responsibility," says Holzleitner, who is convinced that these topics will be important in the upcoming exploratory talks.

Holzleitner also commented on the current political negotiations in parliament. With regard to a possible coalition, she categorically excluded cooperation with the FPÖ. "The freedoms have achieved a broader electorate through their election propaganda and social media, but they lack a women's political access," she explains. This shows that there are hardly any similarities between the two parties.

In her opinion, Holzleitner noted that the focus must be on respecting democratic values: "That means that we have to talk to each other and compromise." Although she did not express any precise preferences for other potential coalition partners, she emphasized the importance of dialogue in politics.
