Hofkirchen creates new eco-themed park for environmental education and fun

In Hofkirchen, an innovative place for environmental education and leisure activities is created. The community has set itself the goal of transforming a meadow next to the tennis hall into an eco- and themed park. Here children, adolescents and adults should be able to learn and play together.

The previously unused property, which is not far from the Stock shooter pond and the pond of the fishing association, is upgraded by a joint project of the community's family and environmental committee. Vice Mayor Martin Mairhofer emphasizes that it was important to the community not to seal the ground. "We want to create a meeting point that appeals young and old," said Mairhofer and explained that the new park should be used not only for leisure activities, but also for environmental education.

In the intended theme park, various outdoor classrooms are to be created, equipped with information boards and interactive stations. These offer information about the importance of anti-floor sealing, recycling techniques and water consumption. The park should not only be a place of learning, but also of movement. A bicycle course with motor skills exercise stations will help promote the physical fitness and skill of users. The entire facility will be accessible to the public and is particularly suitable for school classes who want to experience practical environmental education.

The construction start for this project is planned for spring 2025. The municipality suggests that mainly regional companies are commissioned to implement. The project is financed with the support of the Donau-Böhmerwald Leader region, which represents a further incentive to promote local providers.
