35 years of social living service: a milestone for Wels and its homeless people

Wels. The social living service (SWS) recently celebrated its 35th anniversary. At the celebration, the co -founder Wolf Dorner was particularly honored, who received ovations for his tireless efforts. A sentence that is often cited by him in meetings became the motto of the SWS: "Housing well is an important contribution to living well". This statement underlines the essential connection between living space and quality of life.

The event took place in the Sparkasse on the Ringstrasse, which not only acted as a host, but also showed its support with a generous donation. The guests experienced an evening full of stories about the development of the facility, including heart -warming and sad anecdotes as well as an impressive series of pictures that documented the change in the day center and the emergency sleeping place.

urgent social challenges

The occasion crouched the serious challenges in front of which many people in the region are facing. Housing is increasing and the social situation is becoming increasingly difficult. The SWS offers a variety of support offers, including an emergency sleeping center, a day center and programs for transitional apartments, especially for women. These services are vital for many people who need support because they are either at home or run the risk of losing it.

"Upper Austria, as an economically strong federal state, has a special responsibility to support such people. We must not leave anyone behind," emphasized Christian Dörfel (VP) during the celebrations. The discussions about various projects and solutions also included representatives of cooperatives and the city of Wels. The "Housing First" model, which is implemented in cooperation with Welser home, was particularly highlighted. This initiative is aimed at people who are acutely homeless or live in a threatening life situation and have hardly any long -term perspective without professional support.

The bridge between social offers and living space is considered more and more important. It is crucial to further expand these offers in order to meet the growing needs, especially in view of the increasing number of people affected by homelessness. Comprehensive support and innovative solutions are necessary to help these people get foothold again.

The celebrations of the SWS not only looked back on the successes of the past 35 years, but also gave a call to the action in order to strengthen support for the weakest in society. The solidarity and the community spirit that were felt at this event show that there are numerous supporters who work for a future worth living for everyone.
