11-year-old windsurfer Gaspar Evelio Cascon Schwarzenlander made a splash at the prestigious PWA Youth World Cup event in Alacati, Türkiye. Originally from Sonnberg, Gaspar now lives in Gran Canaria and has now achieved remarkable success for Austria.

In the exciting Fin-Slalom U13 category, he was able to secure overall victory by showing great performances throughout the competition. In a total of four races he managed to achieve a first place, as well as two second places and a third place. His performance in the third race was particularly remarkable, where he achieved second place despite a crash shortly before the finish.

A talented youngster

Gaspar has been addicted to windsurfing since he was four years old and trains every day. His dedication and hard work paid off last year when he celebrated no fewer than three victories in the Björn Dunkerbeck Speed Challenge – among the fastest windsurfers in his age group (up to 10 years). This year he also competed in the U15 category, where he took third place.

Another impressive aspect of his sporting career is his top speed, which is currently 32 knots, which corresponds to around 60 km/h. With such rapid speed, Gaspar is one of the most promising talents in the sport of windsurfing.
