Electricity prices in transition: This is how you save up to 1,150 euros a year!
From January 1, 2025, Austrian households will face enormous additional loads by removing the electricity price brake and increases in the network fees. People have to reduce their consumption and think about changing providers in order to escape the increasing costs, as reported. According to an analysis of the tariff comparison portal through viewer.at , the changes to a cheaper provider can be significant. Depending on the state, average households could save up to 600 euros in electricity and even up to 1,150 euros in gas.The greatest savings options exist, particularly in comparison between the established state energy suppliers and smaller, more flexible providers. The investigation shows that households with 4,000 kWh of electricity consumption in Upper Austria could save more than 600 euros a year by switching from the energy supplier to the best alternative offer. These differences result from different purchasing policy and the flexibility of the providers to implement market developments quickly. Current tariffs show that large providers are reliable, but often cause higher costs, while smaller providers offer tempting new customer discounts, such as DerSandard reported.
use savings potential
An example from Vorarlberg shows that an average household would have to pay up to 2,424 euros without discounts, while the best alternative offer drops to just 1,276 euros in the first year - a saving of 47 percent. Despite tempting new customer discounts, experts warn against comparing the tariffs regularly, since these discounts often omit after the first year and the prices can then rise.
