Mold and pesticides: alarm for oatmeal from Aldi and Co.!

oatmeal are a popular and healthy breakfast, but an investigation by the Chamber of Labor in Upper Austria has provided alarming results. In tests of 13 different products, mold was detected in four cases, and a product even contained the controversial pesticide glyphosate. The "Golden Bridge Oat Flakes" by Aldi, which had the highest values of mold injections, were particularly striking. An adult already reaches the acceptable daily recording amount with only 63 grams of these oatmeal, as was found in the reports of OE24 and the Chamber of Labor.

Dangerous pollutants discovered

The test results show that mold poison is considered to be severely harmful to the human body, since they can attack the digestive tract and weaken the immune system. Other brands such as Spar, Lidl and Billa also had products in their range that were stressed, while all seven tested organic harrow flakes were free of pesticides. These organic alternatives are available from 0.85 euros for 500 grams, while the conventional products, which are often offered cheaper, hide a higher risk. The Chamber of Labor therefore advises consumers to be more careful when buying oatmeal and relying on organic quality.

The discovery of the pesticide glyphosate, the hazard of which has long been discussed for a long time. Although the World Health Organization originally classified it as likely carcinogenic, the European Health Authority recently extended the approval of the active ingredient by another ten years, which rekindled the debate about security among the population. The test results therefore require a conscious handling of food and their ingredients, as the Chamber of Labor in Upper Austria stated in its investigation.
