Optimism after flooding: Zwettl's artificial ice rink should open for Christmas
The flood has affected the artificial ice rink in Zwettl. Fortunately, Karl Kuchelbacher, the square, was able to take some precautions to avoid greater damage. He brought the ice plane machine and rental shoes to safety in good time and ensured that the boards were fixed over the shaft. So the cooling system remained undamaged, unlike the flood disaster in 2002.
After the return of chairman Heinz Lüdemann, who lingered in Sicily during the flood week, there was a pleasant turn. The army, the fire brigade and the members of the EHC Hurrican had already done numerous clean -up work at the ice rink and the battle announced the fight. However, the exact nature of the cooling machine and other devices can only be assessed as soon as the power supply is restored. In the meantime, it was found that the light masts as well as the distribution system and the meter box were irreparably damaged due to the flood. This leads to the plan to move electrical supply to a higher area.
re -operated at Christmas
The Swietelsky company is currently working on renewing access to the promenade and demarcation to the ice rink. After the end of these work, the gangs are installed and the cooling mats are used again, which have to be cleaned beforehand and checked for their tightness. Despite the enormous challenges, chairman Lüdemann is optimistic and believes that the artificial ice rink can still be opened during the Christmas holidays.
The canteen facility also fell victim to the flood, but with the support of the Dirmüller company, a replacement could already be organized. Before that, the ground floor requires a new paint treatment. Only after this is done can the mats be laid and the furnishings can be ordered. The overall situation shows that a lot of work is still pending but have already made considerable progress.
