Stocksport Champions League: St. Peter fights for the title in Klagenfurt
st. Peter am Wimberg. On the upcoming weekend, the St. Peter's women's team will be serious when she wants to defend her title in Stockport Champions League. After the triumphant final of the previous year, in which the team from the region won against German TSV Kühbach, St. Peter is one of the favorites to get the winner again.
The dazzling event, which will be set up in Klagenfurt from October 4th to 6th, not only attracts local teams, but also representatives from seven different European countries. In this year's championship, 12 women's teams and 16 men's teams compete against each other to win the title. The tension is noticeable and the anticipation among the athletes is high.

The women of the ESV Union Vornholz from Styria and the ESV Neustift-Dinnermanzing from Lower Austria are among the serious challengers. In the 2024 state league season, Vornholz won the title with an outstanding 5-1 final victory over St. Peter, which makes it strong competition. Neustift-Dinnermanzing won the first state championship title on ice in February of this year, which further fueled its ambitions.The top teams from Germany, especially TSV Kühbach and the EC Passau-Neustift, are also characterized by their ambition. While TSV Kühbach performed excellent in the previous year as the second of the Champions League, the EC Passau-Neustift achieved second place in the European Cup. The Italian teams EV Moritzing Seiwald and SV Lana Raika also have great ambitions and are determined to play at the front.
The opening ceremony of the event will take place on Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. Carinthia's governor Peter Kaiser will be present for the ceremonial start and will receive the visiting teams together with IFI President Christian Lindner. On Saturday, October 5, the preliminary round games start at 11 a.m. In the afternoon, the exciting quarter -final games are on the program, followed by the semi -finals on Sunday morning from 8:30 a.m.
