Appreciation and community: Bishop Scheuer in Waldhausen
The Waldhausen collegiate church was the scene of a special service last Sunday, which formed the completion of a week full of activities in the parishes of the Grein deanery. Among the visitors were high-ranking church representatives such as Bishop Manfred Scheuer, Vicar General Severin Lederhilger and Brigitte Gruber-Aichberger, who dived from October 6 to 12, 2024 during their visit to the communities.
Special attention was paid to Bishop Scheuer, who spoke in urgent words about people's cooperation. "Communicate. Thank you. Listen. Appreciation. Approaching people. This is food for the soul," he emphasized, emphasizing that many people are caught in their own judgments. They often see the world in black and white, which leads to alienation. The issues of violence in the family and at work are very concerned about the bishop. In his eyes, the focus must be on joy and cohesion.
water and bread - symbols of the community
Another highlight of the festival service was the symbolic handover of water and bread by representatives of the various dean's parishes. The bread was distributed to those present during the following Agape, while the water that was collected from the different communities then flows back into it. This custom stands for the community and the cohesion of the churches.
over 100 altar servers, lecturers, church choir and instrumentalists contributed to the ceremonial framework of the service. Dechant Johann Fehrerhofer from Bad Kreuzen and parish moderator Karl Michael Wögerer congratulated the visitors who received a regional gift basket. The atmosphere during the subsequent Agape was warm and shaped by stimulating conversations.
The Deanery Grein includes parishes such as Bad Kreuzen, Dimbach, Grein, Klam, Pabneukirchen, Saxen, St. Georgen/Walde, St. Nikola, St. Thomas and Waldhausen. The visit of the bishop and the diverse program have strengthened the community and emphasized the importance of cooperation.
