Violence prevention in Perg: Initiative Stop extended by 2026
Violence prevention in Perg: Initiative Stop extended by 2026
In the district of Perg, the topic of domestic violence is currently at the top of the agenda. The violence prevention initiative "Stop-districts without partner power" will continue until May 2026, which should ensure long-term planning and the possibility of responding to the topic more intensively. These initiatives are absolutely necessary because the figures for the bans and rapprochement bans have increased alarming: From 1 January to October 31, 70 such bans were given, which represents an increase of around 12 percent compared to the previous year. Gabriele Schauer from the Women's Consulting Perg indicates that crisis times often have an increase in violence. Nevertheless, there is also a positive aspect: women feel encouraged to report and seek help.
A central component of the initiative is to raise awareness of the neighborhood. “Stop” wants to encourage neighbors to intervene if they observe a violence or threat situation. By getting together for each other, potential violent situations can be recognized and prevented at an early stage. The initiative starts exactly where violence often takes place in secret - in the living environment and in the everyday environment.
focus on companies and men's work
Another goal of the initiative is cooperation with companies. Here it is recognized that jobs can often be a place where help and support for those affected are provided by domestic violence. Many companies could indicate auxiliary facilities through informative materials such as flyers or posters and help to discuss the topic openly. Workshops for civil courage are also planned to train employees.
Not only women are addressed, the men should also actively draw into the problem. “Men's tables” are planned, in which men can exchange ideas and together can take a clear attitude against violence against women and children. These initiatives are considered important to make a rethink in society.
In addition, many events will take place in the coming months to raise awareness of violence against women. From November 25th to December 10th, promotions are on the program as part of the “16 days against violence against women”. Among other things, a musical reading and discussion will take place on December 5th in the Café confectionery in Stöger-another important offer to openly discuss the topic and provide educational work.
The women's counseling Perg, under the direction of Elisabeth Glawitsch, plays a central role in implementing these measures. With the support of new employees such as Barbara Kaiselgruber, the team is strengthened in order to effectively promote the targeted goals. It is evident that a social rethink is necessary to break the taboo around domestic violence and actively act against this form of violence.
The signs show that something changes in Perg. More and more women use the offers and come to events to exchange ideas. It is to be hoped that these developments will continue to have a positive impact on awareness of domestic violence in the future. Encourable words and deeds are necessary to not only help those affected, but also to show society that violence is not acceptable behavior.
If you or someone you know are affected by domestic violence, there are several contact points. You can contact the police under 133 or the Frauenhelpline at 0800/222 555. For further support, the Women's Advice Perg offers individual advice and information - an important resource for those affected. Information about the current promotions and offers is also available online to achieve a broad public and to raise awareness of this important topic.
