Linz AG goes green: E-vehicle for waste paper collection in action

A new chapter in the garbage disposal will be opened in November in November: Linz AG is now using an electric vehicle for the waste paper collection. This innovative vehicle is not only environmentally friendly, but should also bring considerable CO2 savings. With the aim of saving around 30,000 kilograms of carbon dioxide annually, this is an important step towards sustainable waste disposal.

The new E-vehicle has an impressive battery power of 450 kW and can reach a range of around 200 kilometers in summer operation. Clean and efficient it will be able to carry out two day tours without an intermediate load. The 9.35 meter long vehicle has the capacity to transport up to ten tons of waste paper at once.

The infrastructure for a sustainable future

To be able to use the electric vehicle effectively, a comprehensive charging infrastructure is set up at the location on Nebingerstrasse. Six loading points with an output of 44 kW and a fast loader with 150 kW are to be expanded. For the first vehicle, a charging point with an output of 22 kW has already been installed, which should ensure smooth operation.

The promotion is essential for this progress as part of the "emission -free commercial vehicles and infrastructure" (enin) of the Ministry of Climate Protection. Linda Peer, the head of the waste management of Linz AG, expressed optimistically: "We are happy about the first e-vehicle and the support commitment behind it, which also stands for the high CO2 savings potential due to the fuel-intensive 'stop and go' operation."

For 2025, five more e-trucks are already planned, with the intention of expanding the fleet to up to ten electric vehicles in the coming years. In addition to the e-truck, it is also intended to buy two lighter e-custody vehicles by 2027 to further promote the environmentally friendly strategy.

These developments in the field of e-mobility are significant progress for the city of Linz and its efforts to sustainability. By switching its vehicle fleet to emission -free alternatives, it makes a valuable contribution to climate protection and reducing pollutant emissions in the region.
