rapidly increasing number of overnight stays
The popularity of the camping in Upper Austria cannot be overlooked - in the past ten years, the number of overnight stays has more than doubled to over 505,000. According to Petra Riffert, the chairwoman of the specialist group, most camping guests come from Germany and Austria, followed by vacationers from the Czech Republic and the Netherlands. This increase has made the camping a value -adding activity in the entire region.
The chairwoman illustrates that camping has developed: A traditional, inexpensive holiday form has emerged a quality -conscious, nature -oriented lifestyle that also influences marketing strategies. This led to the establishment of the cooperation "Camping in Upper Austria" and a clear strategy for the future, which is under the motto "Camping and Nature Lodging 2030".
Robert Steiner, managing director of the specialist group, emphasizes that innovative approaches such as glamping, rental camping and digital booking channels expand the market potential. Industry meetings and visits to best practice companies should help increase the quality of the offers. In addition, an excursion was recently launched, in which 13 campsite operators in Carinthia and Slovenia were able to get to know sustainable models.
"We not only want to enrich the camping experience, but also actively tackle the problem of the wildcamp," explains Herta Wiedlroiter, the industry spokeswoman. The measures of the camping offensive are designed to protect the natural landscapes of the region and at the same time to further establish camping as an attractive holiday form.
