Special Christmas gifts for caring relatives in Upper Austria

In Upper Austria, Caritas has created an initiative that cares for caring relatives in the Christmas season. Gift ideas are offered to appreciate the often challenging everyday life of people who look after their relatives. The suggestions include vouchers for a time-out day at a price of 50 euros as well as tickets for the interactive forum theater "Who Cares", which will take place on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at 6 p.m. in the Sonnenstein Loft in Linz.

Responsibility for the care of relatives can be extremely stressful, and many supervisors neglect their own health. Sonja Zauner, head of the Caritas service center for caring relatives in Upper Austria, emphasizes how important it is to treat yourself to regular time out so as not to get into exhaustion. "Small breaks can help recharge your batteries," says Zauner.

interactive experiences for more understanding

The time-out days organized by Caritas offer caring relatives the opportunity to relax in a protected environment and learn new strategies for everyday life. The participants are accompanied by experienced Caritas employees. The events are under the motto "Feeling, refueling, taking a deep breath" and taking place in different places such as Steyr, Hagenberg, Aigen-Schlägl, Braunau, Attnang-Puchheim and Pupping, a total of eight times a year.

Another highlight is the piece "Who Cares?" of the theater group reflective from Vienna. The forum theater is special because it enables the audience to actively participate in the performance. After the performance, you can slip into the roles of the characters and try out various options for action. This form of interactive discussion promotes understanding of the various perspectives and challenges associated with the care of relatives.

With this offer, Caritas aims to reduce the burden on caring relatives in a total of three different aspects and to sensitize the public to the important topics of family care. Such initiatives make it clear how important it is to offer support for those who are often forgotten while taking care of their loved ones.
