Wildcats celebrate championship and cup victory: An unforgettable evening!
The Wildcats' end-of-year celebration was recently celebrated in Kirchdorf, which was marked by special sporting successes this year. The club's second team made waves with their championship victory in the state league and the subsequent play-off success against Augsburg. With this success, the team, led by head coach Julian Miningshofer, secured a place in the “final at home”. In the thrilling duel against Bayreuth, they won an impressive 34:11 and thus won the 2024 cup.
But it's not just the second team that's causing a stir. The men's team faced one of the biggest challenges in the GFL1 season. According to the president, it was the most difficult year for the club, both in terms of sport and organization. “But the team has shown that they are close to winning games,” said the board. Unfortunately, injuries plagued the team, especially among the import players. This meant that ultimately there was only one win in the season.
Farewells and outlooks
One bright spot is that there is no relegation this season, meaning the Wildcats will continue to be represented in the GFL in 2025. The board was optimistic and emphasized: “We have come to stay.” The long-standing performance of head coach Christoph Riener, who has made a significant contribution to the development of the team over the last 15 years, was also particularly recognized. At the celebration he received a warm farewell from board member Höfelsauer with lots of applause.
In addition, words of thanks were expressed to Daniel Masching, who is leaving as coach, as well as to Madita and her physio team and the many helpers who support on match days. An outlook into the future was also given. The course has been set for a successful collaboration with the new sporting director Thomas Simmeit and head coach Justin McKenzie.
The evening ended with a social gathering where the board thanked the sponsors for their support. “Without them, football at this level in Kirchdorf wouldn’t be possible,” he made it clear. Afterwards, everyone present was invited to the buffet, where discussions took place among players, coaches and helpers, which rounded off the atmospheric atmosphere.
