Micheldorf glider pilot celebrate medal rain in the bundle
Last weekend, the pilots of the Micheldorf gliding and model building club in Upper Austria experienced an exciting competition day in Niederöblarn, Styria. In merciless conditions, they showed outstanding achievements and rewarded themselves with their victory in the gliding Bundesliga 2024. The competition is known for its exciting atmosphere in which the best pilots compete against each other to collect the highest scores for their clubs.
In the Bundesliga, the pilots fly six rounds a day over two days and try to set up the best cutting speed over 2.5 hours. The Micheldorf pilots were dealing with the strong opponents from Tyrolean FC St. Johann, but were able to win the upper hand in the final and thus celebrate their triumphant victory. The pilots who scored for the SMBC Kirchdorf-Micheldorf are David Richter-Trummer, Edi Supersperger, Friedrich Hofinger, and many other talented members. Her collective commitment and teamwork were the key to this remarkable success.

Not only in the Bundesliga, also at the decentralized route championship there were to be happy for the Micheldorf ground. In the highly competitive standard class, in which 135 pilots took part, the Micheldorfers were able to defeat each other. Friedrich Hofinger became a state champion and secured first place. His club colleagues, Lukas Schaffler and Thomas Felbermayr, followed him in second and third place. Edi Supersperger impressed in the general class and achieved a bronze medal.
In the racing class, David Richter-Traummer missed a podium when he was missing 0.8 points for third place. Hofinger also competed in the senior class and was able to win a bronze medal there. The SMBC team under the direction of Supersperger, Schaffler and Klugsberger also took second place in the club rating and thus received the silver medal for its excellent performance.
interested parties who also want to experience the fascination of the gliding are welcome to take part in the trial flights at Micheldorf airfield. These take place on the weekends from the beginning of April to the end of October, provided the weather is playing along. In addition, an open day will be held on May 10, 2025 to bring the wonderful world of gliding closer to other interested parties.
