Hinterstoder fire department receives new large fire engine after decades

The Hinterstoder fire department is pleased with the arrival of its new large fire engine (GLF). This significant milestone in the fire department's history follows a long planning process that began in 2018. At that time, as part of risk and development planning, it was decided that the team urgently needed a new device. After many discussions and consultations with the local council, this wish has now come true.

The new vehicle replaces a fire engine that has been in service since 1991 and has provided loyal service for 33 years. At the ceremonial handover, which took place at the Rosenbauer company, the fire brigade colleagues received comprehensive instructions on how to operate the new GLF. This modern vehicle, a MAN, is equipped, among other things, with a modern Fox 4 pump and a special hose container that has a capacity of around 1000 meters of B-hoses. It is designed to significantly increase the efficiency of your operations.

Modern equipment for challenges

A highlight of the new vehicle is the additional pump, which is also located in the roll container and ensures that the emergency services can react even more quickly. The new vehicle is financed through contributions from the municipality, the state fire brigade command and the state of Upper Austria. The fire department itself, however, provided all the equipment worth around 60,000 euros from its own resources.

An important project is coming up in the coming years: The state fire brigade association, together with ASFINAG and the state government, plans to replace the tank fire engines of the Hinterstoder and Vorderstoder fire departments with special tunnel fire engines by the beginning of 2026. These new vehicles will each be equipped with seven breathing apparatuses and are specifically designed for use in tunnel areas. This project is also fully financed by the regional association and the state.

The Hinterstoder fire department is well prepared for the challenges of the future and is thus sending a strong signal for safety in the region. Further information on this topic can be found in a detailed report on www.meinkreis.at.
