World premiere in Gmunden: Musical about Mozart's women enthusiastic

In an exciting step for the musical scene, it was announced that the Stadttheater Gmunden will celebrate the world premiere of the musical "Saving Mozart" on April 11, 2025. The directors Elisabeth Sikora and Markus Olzinger became aware of the only 24-year-old composer Charli Eginton when they discovered an Instagram post that referred to their work. On Eginton's homepage they found the musical about Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and were immediately enthusiastic, especially when they learned that it had never been listed before.

"Without his wife Constanze and his sister Nannerl, the Mozart we know would not exist," said Eginton, who implemented the idea of creating a musical in just two months. This is clearly shown in the focus of the musical, which not only recognizes Mozart's musical talent, but also illuminates the role of the two women in his life. Constanze was not only Mozart's wife, but also his manager. Nannerl, who was also talented, was forced to find her way through the marriage: "This is an important topic that I would like to address," added Eglinton.

musical performances and outlook

During a presentation in the city theater, the first musical samples of the musical of Sikora and Eginton were performed themselves. The pieces were full of emotions and were immediately appealed by the audience. Eglinton has also integrated Mozart quotes in every song, which gives the musical a special touch. "I am convinced that this musical will go around the world," said Olzinger, who heads the direction and stage design. A ten -member orchestra under the direction of Jürgen Goriup.

The ensemble is shaped by well -known actors, including Dennis Riffel as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Michaela Thurner in the role of Constanze. Yngve Gasoy-Romdal will delight the audience as father Leopold Mozart. Olzinger is optimistic about the response. "We were sold out last season and I think the story of Mozart's women will appeal to many people," said the director.

Mayor Stefan Krapf said that the focus on women's figures in the musical "is a sign of encouragement for women to go their own way". The composer herself has a deep passion for Mozart's music that she wants to bring closer to younger generations. "I wanted to transport the magic of his music," said Eginton regarding her motivation to create this musical.
