Missed 86-year-old from Gmunden: Intensive search despite the setbacks
In Gmunden, an 86-year-old woman is currently missing, who has recently recently moved into an old people's and nursing home. The pensioner who suffers from dementia left the home on Thursday evening without the knowledge of the staff and did not return. Only around seven in the evening was the gmundner's disability reported to the police.
The search for the elderly lady quickly developed into a large -scale commitment. Various rescue organizations, including five fire brigades, the Red Cross and the police, worked together to find the woman. A police helicopter from Vienna was also requested for support.
First information from surveillance cameras
Important information about the localization of the lady came through video recordings of surveillance cameras that are attached to the city. These showed how the 86-year-old went from the city center towards the east bank of the Traunsee. Unfortunately, their traces are lost at the Seebahnhof Gmunden.
The emergency services were then forced to use different techniques to continue the search for women. Six drones as well as search dogs from the police, the Red Cross and the rescue dog brigade were mobilized. Despite these efforts, the search was unsuccessful until the late night. The campaign was initially interrupted at 1:30 a.m., but it was announced that the search will continue the next day.
The authorities are concerned in view of the circumstances, since the health and security of the missing woman could be at risk in such a cold and potentially uncomfortable environment. It remains to be seen how the search continues today and whether the missing woman can be found. For initial updates and further information you can see the current report on ooe.orf.at
