New President of the Upper Austria Museums: Reinhold Klinger relies on volunteering and culture
Pregarten. There is a fresh wind through the Upper Austrian museums, because the general meeting has chosen a new president: Reinhold Klinger, an experienced member of the Pregartner Community and as a lawyer and personnel manager very familiar with the challenges in the cultural sector. Klinger succeeds Roman Sandgruber, who as founding president now remains the honorary member of the network.
The election took place during the 22nd Upper Austrian Museum Day in the venerable Wilhering Abbey. In his previous role as a cashier, Klinger already knew many of the upcoming challenges and now took responsibility with open arms to further strengthen the museums of the region. "Voluntary work gives us meaning and support," said the new president and emphasized the need to position museums as important cultural contact points in their communities.
experience and visions for the museums
Klinger not only has extensive experience, but also a great passion for museums. He has headed the Heimat- und Kulturverein in Pregarten for 17 years. Under its aegis, the local museum was extensively renovated and modernized, which led to the award of the museum with the Austrian Museum seal of approval. This seal of approval stands for high standards in museum work and improves the public perception of the museum. "It is important that people find the work of the volunteers valuable," explained Klinger.
A central goal of Klinger will be the promotion of the volunteer office and the professionalization of the museums. "We need both personnel and financial support," said Klinger. "It is our goal that the committed employees and volunteers feel their work as an enrichment and that society can continue to influence them positively." His focus is on strengthening the motives of people for their voluntary work and expanding the relevance of the museums as social institutions.
The farewell to some board members during the new elections is also particularly noteworthy. Roman Sandgruber was honored for decades of passion and commitment as President since 2001 and appointed an honorary member. In addition, the outgoing Vice President Ursula Pötscher received a special title from Governor Thomas Stelzer to honor her merits in folk education and home care.
Klinger's leadership style and his vision for the development of the association promise new impulses for museums in Upper Austria. The new board team is partially newly staffed and ready to promote the positive changes with fresh enthusiasm. In this way, the relationship between the museums and the community is further consolidated and the cultural heritage of the region is visibly strengthened.
