Freistadt goes the way to energy independence: citizens are committed!
FREISTADT. In the Freistadt exhibition hall, the official start of citizen participation for the joint construction of renewable energy systems recently took place. Around 700 interested citizens accepted the invitation of the Regio's energy cooperative. The event shaped an innovative approach to cooperation in the region, which is supposed to drive the energy transition.
At the beginning, the guests took part in a cinematic journey of discovery to the Mühlviertel together with moderator Conny Dürnberger. This presentation illuminated how local citizens, companies and communities react to crises and what resources are available to them. The foundation of the Regio's energy cooperative marks a significant step towards greater independence in energy supply.A look over the borders
The "Freistädter Model" initiative also attracted international interest. During an online circuit on the photovoltaic congress of the International Energy Agency in Yokohama, the relevance of the project was underlined. In particular, Rudi Anschober and Norman Eichinger, association director of the Raiffeisenverband Upper Austria, was enthusiastic about the professional appearance and the great interest in developments in Freistadt.
In another program part, prominent speakers, including Mayor Josef Lindner and district chief Andrea Wildberger, were emphasized for a self -determined energy supply. Responsibility for the energy supply of the region can thus be made independent by external, globally acting providers.
innovative approaches for the future
The clear strategic concept of the Regio's Energy Cooperative was also awarded the 1st place at the Raiffeisen Genius Award 2024. This shows that the common approach in energy supply not only acts locally, but also regionally and nationally as a model. The price of 15,000 euros is another incentive for the community.
The board members Norbert Miesenberger and Christian Neufeld emphasized during the event that the Regio's energy cooperative is building on the experience horizon of Helios Sonnenstrom GmbH. The acquisition of cooperative shares makes it possible for citizens and companies to become co -owners of the energy cooperative. This participation not only creates a stronger sense of community, but also promotes the development of further photovoltaic systems in the region.
In addition, interested parties can already get from the online marketplace ourpower.coop/regios green electricity. An important step towards independence from conventional energy sources.
In addition to the subject issues, great importance was placed on the importance of cooperations. The board members encouraged those present to work together across community and party borders in order to successfully design the energy transition. The evening ended in a sociable exchange and a network -oriented cooperation, in which the possibility of regional strengthening was given.
