New host brings a breath of fresh air to the Wildrest of Göpfritz/Wild

The community of Göpfritz/Wild is enthusiastic about the new restaurant staff in the town center. At the recent local council meeting, there was unusually high interest from citizens, but not because of current political issues, but rather because of the introduction of the new tenant of Wildrast. A suitable successor was found in Stefan Pani, an experienced full-blooded restaurateur. Stefan enjoyed extensive training in Krems before working in cities like Paris and at Hangar7, before finally returning to the Waldviertel.

Final adjustments will be made to the inn in the coming months so that full operation can begin in February 2025. Stefan receives support from his brother Georg in marketing and from his partner Kathi in service. “We are very happy that we have found a host despite the difficult situation on the catering market,” said Mayor Silvia Riedl-Weixlbraun (ÖVP), extremely pleased about this development.

Financial aspects of the investment

The investment amount decided by the local council is around 160,000 euros. This investment will be used to bring the Wildrest into shape and to integrate a new gastronomic concept. The fact that there is interest in gastronomy in the region is reflected not only in the great anticipation, but also in the positive feedback that Stefan Pani has received for his plans.

Apart from the introduction of the new tenant, the local council meeting began with a minute's silence for Walter Bigl, a deceased local councillor. The meeting also brought changes in the council, as Hannes Wopienka moved up and was officially sworn in at the meeting.

Another important item on the agenda was the audit report. It was found that the expenses on the agenda, such as the renovation of the Kulturstadl and the sewer work, exceed the expected cost estimates. Important decisions were made beforehand, including the continuation of the community nurse program, the extension of the VOR climate ticket and the awarding of street lighting projects in Göpfritz and Scheideldorf.

Such a development shows the importance of supporting local gastronomy and services, especially in rural areas, where going back to roots often brings a breath of fresh air and new ideas. Citizens and the community are optimistic that these innovations will not only strengthen local gastronomy, but also promote a sense of community.
