The cross -border hiking route, which extends over an impressive 6,000 kilometers, now also has an official section in the Zwettl Abbey. Last Saturday the ceremonial opening of the "Weg of the Cistercian" took place in the picturesque Lindenhof. On this special occasion, numerous representatives of the project groups involved from Germany, the Czech Republic and Austria came together. This cultural hiking trail, which is under the motto "Cistercian Landscapes Connecting Europe", aims to show the influence and importance of the European monastery landscapes.
The "Cistragscapes" project refers to the 17 Cistercian monasteries that extend over several countries, including Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Poland and Slovenia. The Waldviertel section of the path extends over the ten parishes of the Zwettl Abbey in the Zwettl and Gmünd districts and is the last of a total of 17 open routes. This makes him a significant contribution to cultural networking within Europe.
