Advent in Wiener Neustadt: Festive lights and traditional markets
The city of Wiener Neustadt has fully recorded the Advent atmosphere. A real eye -catcher is the newly set up 16 meter high Christmas tree, which was donated by the market town of Lanzenkirchen. He proudly stands opposite the old town hall and was solemnly illuminated last weekend. This not only puts the tree to the fore, but also the Christmas lighting in the pedestrian zones, which shines the entire city center in a festive shine.
Mayor Klaus Schneeberger said about the tree: "Our Christmas tree comes from Lanzenkirchen this year and once again underlines our lived motto 'City & Land Mitanand'. I wish the visitors of our city a lot of joy with the tree as well as numerous further Christmas lights in the pedestrian zones and beyond." The musical accompaniment of the event was taken over by the Musikverein Lanzenkirchen and the elementary schools in Lanzenkirchen and Rudolf Scheicher, which contributed to the festivity of the event.
Advent markets and traditions
As part of the festive time, several advent markets are planned to further increase the anticipation for Christmas. These markets take place on different days and offer visitors a colorful program:
- 29. November to December 1: "Christmas in the city park"
- 6. December to December 8th: "Advent in Beethovenallee"
- 13. December to December 15th: "Advent am Dom" with the folk culture NÖ
- 20. December to December 22nd: "Advent in the Mayor's Garden"
A special highlight this year will be the Krampus run, which takes place on November 29th on the main square and in the city center. Under the direction of the KRAMMUS group Leitha Bartl’n from the hunched world, this event developed into a unique show that focuses on tradition and craft. The participants impressively present the customs that are cultivated during this time of year.
In the coming weeks, the city of Vienna Neustadt will not only celebrate the Advent season due to the radiant Christmas tree, but also through numerous events and living traditions.
