New bike path between Klehof and Rudmanns: Security for cyclists increased
A new cycle path between Klehof and Rudmanns was recently officially opened, a project that the municipality of Zwettl realized in cooperation with the state of Lower Austria. In the presence of National Councilor Alois Kainz, the mayor of Zwettl, Franz Mold, and the deputy head of the road construction department in Waidhofen Thaya, Jochen Lintner, the approximately 1.6 -kilometer section was ceremoniously released.
The new cycle path is an urgently needed connection that cyclists depicted from the busy state road L 8245. This road has an average traffic volume of around 2,200 vehicles per day, including many trucks, the high proportion of which endangered security for cyclists. The relocation of bicycle traffic to the new route should now significantly increase the safety of the users.
Details on the new bike connection
The bike path begins at the Klehof junction and runs towards Rudmanns, where it finally flows into the existing network of paths. This section enables cyclists not only to drive more safely, but also to easily reach the Zwettl industrial area. With this new bike connection, commuters and pleasure cyclists can certainly achieve both the town center of Rudmanns and further routes.
The construction work was carried out by the Swietelsky company and the Zwettl road maintenance department and took about three weeks. The entire investment amounts to around 125,000 euros, with 60 percent of this sum being borne by the state of Lower Austria and 40 percent by the municipality of Zwettl.
The new project therefore not only has the function of ensuring the safety of cyclists, but also represents a step towards sustainable traffic development in the region. Cycle paths not only promote environmental protection, but also make access to important services and jobs.
