After flooding: two companies in Lower Austria apply for short -time work

After the devastating floods in September, a total of two companies in Lower Austria have applied for short -time work, as the Lower Austria labor market service (AMS) announced. 16 employees are affected by these applications. This development follows more than 40 inquiries that have been received by the local authorities after the floods.

The companies concerned are located in the St. Pölten and Waidhofen districts on the Thaya. You have applied for aid for different periods: one company for up to six months and the other for ten weeks. Despite the high number of inquiries, many companies found in consultations that there is no entitlement to short -working employment. The requirements were often not met or the damage was covered by other financial services, for example by insurance. Sandra Kern, the managing director of the AMS Lower Austria, explained that the support was not always necessary.

economic challenges according to natural disaster

The great influx of inquiries illustrates how much the economy in the country suffers from the natural disaster. Companies are urgently looking for paths to secure their employees and their business. Short -time work is an instrument that is often used in times of crisis to maintain jobs and support companies in difficult phases. However, most companies had to find that not every business challenge can be managed with this measure.

So far, the applications show that the companies concerned are confronted with different challenges that cannot be solved uniformly. It remains to be seen how things will continue and whether other companies will look for support for these standards. According to noe.orf.at the situation for the local economy remains tense, and the exchange between the companies and the advisors of the AMS will continue to be important.
