Climate protection in the Waidhofen district: Communities celebrate 20 years of commitment!

In the Waidhofen district, an important milestone is celebrated in the area of climate protection, since several communities are recognized for their longstanding commitment to the climate alliance network. The awards took place as part of a festive reception at the regulars' table of the village and urban renewal in Echsenbach, where over 430 mayors and municipal councils from the Waldviertel came together.

Petra Schön, the managing director of the Lower Austria climate alliance, emphasized that the climate alliance communities, who has been awarded many years, were excellent role models. The regulars' table ensure an ideal platform to inspire others and learn from the experiences of these communities.

Raabs as a pioneer in climate protection

among the particularly honored communities stands out Raabs, which is 25 years of a member of the climate alliance this year. Since its accession in 1999, the municipality has been continuously committed to climate protection and has implemented numerous environmentally friendly projects over the years. In his speech, Mayor Franz Fischer emphasized the many committed measures that have been implemented in Raabs in recent years.

Not only Raabs has been active in climate protection for a long time. The communities of Thaya, Waidhofen/Thaya-Land, Pfaffenschlag, Ludweis-Aigen, Waldkichen, Dietmanns, Windigsteig, Groß Siegharts, Karlstein an der Thaya and Gastern look back on 20 years of successful cooperation in the largest climate protection network in Europe. Through this cooperation you have sustainably anchored climate protection in your communities.

State Councilor Stephan Pernkopf was proud of the pioneering role of Lower Austria in climate protection and found that the municipalities play a crucial role in making the region a decisive role in environmental protection through their tireless efforts. This is shown not least by the high number of climate alliance communities in the region.
