Festive harvest regulation in Pfaffenschlag: A look back at the Thanksgiving Festival

On Sunday, October 6th, the annual Thanksgiving Festival took place in the parish of Pfaffenschlag, which moved numerous visitors to the parish hall. Many of the guests came in traditional costume, which gave the event a special atmosphere. The preparations were intense because the harvest crown was decorated with various types of grain, flowers, apples, corn cobes as well as poppaplets and box tufts. These were lovingly designed by committed helpers.

The festive atmosphere continued at the beginning of the Holy Mass when members of the rural youth brought the beautiful harvest crown to the altar. In addition, a magnificent, handicraft -decorated bread loaf from the local bakery Kasses from Thaya was donated. After the fair, bread pieces were distributed to the people present, which the community welded even more together. The children of the Pfaffenschlag elementary school also contributed small baskets to the celebration, which they set up on the altar during the service.

They were supported by the teachers Astrid Hadl, Melanie Wöhri-Hainz, Luise Hauer, Nina Raidl and Margit Hofbauer.

During the fair, some pieces of the Buchbach Trachtenkapelle also contributed to the good atmosphere. This musical accompaniment continued at the subsequent morning drink, which skillfully rounded off the celebrations. Not only the tradition was recognized here, but also the physical well -being of the guests: the Pfaffenschlag volunteer fire brigade offered a tasty lunch, including a delicious wild dish that fit perfectly for the autumnal season. In addition, various pastries were served, which made participation in this festival even more pleasant.
