Opening of the first hybrid market in Thaya: Future of local supply secured
Last Friday, a new chapter in retail was opened in Thaya: The near & Frisch Markt from Othmar Josef was the first hybrid market in the Waidhofen district opened its doors. For customers, this means that they can now buy not only during the usual business hours, but also outside of these times - and without personal operation.
The ceremony for the opening attracted numerous personalities, including the managing director of Eccovia, Dominik Head, Mayor Eduard Köck and Federal Councilor Viktoria Hutter. This event made it clear that the hybrid market is not only an innovative solution for local supply, but also a step into the future of retail.
What is a hybrid market?
The concept of a hybrid market combines regular opening times with times when customers can serve itself. "This system makes it possible for us to open the market with the same legally permitted 72 hours a week," said Julius Kiennast from the Kiennast Group. This enables flexible use and optimal accessibility for customers to meet the needs of the community.
The idea for this modern approach came up when operator Othmar Josef considered the partial retirement of an employee. This was the impetus to rethink opening hours and equip the market for the future. The market now has regular opening times from Monday to Saturday in the morning and in addition on Monday and Friday in the afternoon. From Monday to Saturday there will also be self -service from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
For self -service times, customers receive access to the market by means of an ATM card. All products are offered, with the exception of delicacies, alcohol and cigarettes. The purchases can be paid for independently at special cash registers with scanners. This type of processing is also possible during regular opening hours to avoid long waiting times.
With this new concept, the near & Frisch Markt in Thaya shows what the future of retail can look like and thus deals with the needs of the community. For more information about the opening and the new possibilities that the hybrid market offers, see the reporting on www.noen.at .
