Unemployment in the Waidhofen/Thaya district: A look at the numbers
In the Waidhofen/Thaya district, the situation on the labor market is characterized by a striking tendency: currently 436 people are registered as unemployed at the AMS Waidhofen/Thaya. While the number of unemployed men dropped by 3.1 percent compared to the previous year, the situation among women has changed drastically. There is an increase of 25.8 percent here.
The AMS branch manager, Edith Palisek-Zach, reports that unemployment has generally increased by 7.7 percent compared to October of the previous year. Despite these challenges, however, the job market remains dynamic and active. Since the beginning of the year, a total of 2,137 placement proposals have been made by the consultant team, and 1,062 job seekers have already ended their unemployment by taking a new position. This corresponds to 120 additional work recordings compared to the same period of the previous year.
occupied positions and qualifications
This year 808 of the vacancies registered at the AMS Waidhofen were successfully filled. "We use the persistent demand for workers to make a suitable supply to each of our customers and every customer-be it a job or qualification," explains Palisek-Zach. By the end of October, 143 people have already participated in training at the AMS Lower Austria, which corresponds to an increase of 17.2 percent compared to the previous year.
The apprenticeship market also shows some challenges. At the moment, 67 apprenticeships are registered with the AMS, 9 of which are immediately available, while only 21 are registered for apprenticeships. Despite these offers, the demand and supply do not always match. "Thorough information and advice are crucial for a successful introduction to the professional world," emphasizes the AMS boss.
importance of professional advice
She calls on people without a professional or apprenticeship to seek contact with the AMS in order to benefit from the diverse advisory services in the professional information center. It is pointed out that people can be unemployed for up to 12 years without corresponding degrees in the course of their working life.
These developments emphasize the complexity of the current labor market situation in the district, which combines both opportunities and challenges. The dynamics that arise from the successful occupation of positions and the increasing participation in training could be a positive reference to the reaction of the market to these challenges.
