The construction work on the Steinhäusl node on the West Autobahn (A1) tends to come to an end, and drivers can hope for a significant relief. From mid -November, traffic, as ASFINAG announces, will probably flow again unhindered again. This development comes after long months of the disorders caused by the extensive construction work.

Daily use almost 74,000 vehicles, including up to 11,000 trucks, these busy knot in the Sankt Pölten district. The road sections have been badly affected since March 2023, as extensive renovation work was carried out on a distance of eight kilometers to St. Christophen. The stress due to intensive use in recent years had added to the infrastructure, which urgently made the measures necessary.

The renovation not only included the lanes, but also the renewal of the rising and departure of the junctions of St. Christophen and Altlengbach. It is noteworthy that ASFINAG has reused about 90 percent of the material in concrete and asphalting work, which benefits the environment.

In addition, 15 bridges and around 8,000 meters of wild protection fence were renewed. All of this happened in the context of a comprehensive general renovation that was associated with an investment of around 30 million euros. From the end of next week, the areas in the direction of travel Vienna should be accessible without restrictions.
