New Billa merchants in Wieselburg and Floridsdorf: Focus on career jumps

In October, the Billa merchant family experienced a remarkable expansion with two new members. Rainer Rupp took over the Billa Plus Markt in Wieselburg, in which he had worked as a market manager for over three years. Mirnes Salkic, who was previously a market manager in Vienna, ventured into self-employment and now opened his own market at Jedleseerstrasse 51a in Vienna-Floridsdorf.

Both men come from colorful careers within the Billa Group. Brian Beck, board member at Billa, emphasizes: “Rainer Rupp and Mirnes Salkic are perfect examples that everything is possible in the Billa family and that you can put a steep career from apprentice to the independent businessman. We are at your side as a strong partner.”

Billa plus Wieselburg under new management

The Melker Rupp native started his career at Billa as an apprentice in 2003. After various positions, including as a market manager in Pöchlarn and St. Pölten, he took over the management of the Wieselburg market in January 2021. Under his leadership, the proven team of 57 employees and four apprentices remain. Rupp also continues the important initiative "Use instead of waste", which is committed to the sustainable use of food. In the future he will adapt the range of his market with a regional accent.

A very special focus will be to offer proven products on site to delight the Wieselburg customers with local products. He speaks of a "well -established team" that will support him in implementing his ideas.

Mirnes Salkic can also look back on an impressive career. After completing his training in 2001, he quickly rose to the Head of Mercury. During a 14-month abroad in Bulgaria, he gained international experiences, which he was able to bring in as a Rayon director for meat and delicatessen after returning in Vienna. After many successful years as a market manager in Vienna favorites and Liesing, he has now taken over the management of a market with 1,800 m² of retail space and 54 employees.

Salkic has big plans for his new market: he not only wants to use his valuable knowledge, but also let his creativity run free. A special feature of its range will be the mixture of regional products and traditional Balkan specialties. "I want to develop my vision more freely for the market," says the Bosnian -born promising.

By taking over these two markets, the Billa Group is not only enriched by new, vitalizing management, but also preserves the focus on sustainability and regionality. In a constantly changing retail environment, this is a step that directly affects both the markets and the consumers in the Wieselburg and Vienna-Floridsdorf region.
