Kika/Leiner: Insolvency drama! Thousands of customers fear for their money!
Landesgericht St. Pölten, Österreich - The Kika/Leiner furniture chain is in front of the final one, since its second attempt to renovate due to the lack of investors failed. From now on, a huge sale with a 30 percent discount is launched on lying items, while the last 17 branches are closed at the same time. This hits around 1350 employees who lose their jobs, as well as the associated catering companies, who also had to give up their renovation plans, such as Vol.at reported.
customers affected by bankruptcy
The bankruptcy also hit numerous customers of Kika/Leiner who are dissatisfied with vouchers and down payments. Since the bankruptcy in November, vouchers have not been legally redeemed, which means that many customers stay on their money. Mass administrator Volker Leitner said that for a few hundred customers, the reimbursement of down payments, for example for kitchens, is not possible due to the bankruptcy provisions. "There are many hardship cases," said Leitner. Unfortunately, insolvency law does not provide for any exceptions, which further exacerbates the situation for those affected. The examination of which customer contracts can be fulfilled should be largely concluded by the end of this week, whereby the customers will then be informed in writing, such as Kleine Zeitung
Customers whose down payments may not be reimbursed must register their claims to the St. Pölten Regional Court, which is associated with a fee of 25 euros. The repayment is usually only a small percentage of the original down payment, which will lead to disappointments for many. Those affected should carefully consider whether they are registering their claim, since the registration fee could be higher in some cases than the amount they ultimately receive. In the end, this message about outstanding payments could have even more painful consequences for the damaged customers.
