City run inspires up to 800 students: inside in the heart of Lower Austria

The city run in St. Pölten, which is causing more and more enthusiasm in the region, attracts a particularly large number of participants this year, especially from schools. According to the organizer Gottfried Lammerhuber, up to 800 pupils are expected: inside between 6 and 15 years, who take part in this exciting sporting event - on a school -free day! The majority of these young runners come from St. Pölten, especially from schools such as the Josefstrasse high school, which Mary Ward schools, the Grillparz elementary school and the sports agent school. "We also have registrations from places such as Gföhl, Oberwölbling and Prinzersdorf," emphasizes Lammerhuber.

The event, which is not only for students: inside, but also for the entire running community, starts at 4.30 p.m. with an early start for the children. At 5:15 p.m., the students go on the track inside, followed by the young people at 6 p.m. The main run over 5,060 meters starts at 6.30 p.m., while the "Nightrun" begins over 10 kilometers at 7.15 p.m. Particular attention is paid to the top favorite of the main run: the local hero Sandra Schauer from the Union St. Pölten, who achieved the state championship title over 5,000 meters in June.

The new route

An exciting innovation this year affects the Nightrun route, which leads for the first time through the newly created pedestrian zone in the Dr.-Karl-Renner-promenade. "The new route is not only scenic, but also offers us enormous organizational advantages," explains Lammerhuber. The audience can look forward to an exciting atmosphere along the course.

On the competition day, the registration and winning teaching tent is placed on Rathausplatz. Participation is uncomplicated, as registrations are accepted from 2.30 p.m. up to an hour before the respective runs. A club affiliation is not necessary so that everyone can participate. The timekeeping takes place via integrated chips in the start numbers, which guarantees simple and precise time measurement. Participants can fortify themselves with isotonic drinks, pastries and fruit during and after the competitions. Shower facilities are available in the Aquacity to ensure refreshment after the run.

More details on schedule and nominal money can be found on the website www.fipe.at. The anticipation for the event is already great and the participants are ready to test their sporting limits.
