In Pöchlarn picturesque, there are worrying developments that make the boat owners and nature lovers on alert. For years, abandoned boats and damaged investors have been reported on the estate. The concerns have intensified, especially after the latest flood events.

Franz Gansch, the President of the Motorboot Club Pöchlarn (MBC), expresses serious concerns about the improper attachment of some boats. "The large wooden boat on the Fuchslände, which is only attached to a tree, really worries me," says Gansch. The official guidelines forbid to attach boats to the natural vegetation, as this both harms the tree and the danger carries that the boat will drift on storms or floods.

The measures for fuse are clear: "Boats should be secured with robust thaws and quickly to be achieved. What happens here, especially with the large wooden boat, is extremely questionable," emphasizes Gansch. If this boat tears off, it could cause serious damage, for example on the neighboring power plant. The owner of the boat in question, on the other hand, believes that he did everything properly, since the additional fastenings were only attached due to the flood.

Another boat owner describes the situation as a "boat cemetery", since many of the boots that have remained in the lying down have not been moved in years. "This abandoned fleet not only attracts unpleasant looks, but also harbors an environmental danger. Excessive liquids such as fuel could significantly endanger the water quality," he says.

The local ÖVP mayor Barbara Kainz surprisingly reacted to the repeated complaints. "So far I knew nothing of that," she confessed, but promised to accept the situation personally and take suitable measures. "I will get a picture on site, because the security of our water resources has a top priority," continued Kainz.
