Ski adventure in Lower Austria: the start of the season ensures great excitement!
In the Austrian ski areas, the new season is heralded with partially delayed operation. Karl Weber, Managing Director of Hochkar & Ötscher Tourismus GmbH, announced that due to the difficult snow conditions, the opening in Lackenhof am Ötscher was now postponed to December 14th. Nevertheless, skiers can enjoy the first departures at the Hochkar from Friday, including the family descent and the children's country on the Zagerlboden. A total of 122 working days are planned by April 6, 2025, as reported by orf.at
First operation in other ski areas
A partial operation will also be included in the Semmering on Saturday. The FIS World Cup Panorama slopes can already be opened, as Nazar Nydza from the Semmering Hirschenkogel announced. A “Soft Opening” will take place in the Wexl Arena St. Corona next week, while in the Mönichkirchen adventure, December 14th, in particular, in order to benefit from the announced cold temperatures for technical snowmaking. Markus Redl, Managing Director of Ecoplus Alpin GmbH, confidently expressed that you will be well prepared for the upcoming Christmas holidays.
The Lower Austria Chamber of Lower Austria (Aknö) has also found significant price differences in various ski areas. A family ticket for a day at Semmering costs 163 euros in the high season, while the same number of slopes kilometers in the Königsberg ski area costs only 104 euros. On a day trip to the Unterberg ski area, costs of 112 euros can arise, whereby you need natural snow conditions. According to schindler.de , the price for adults varies in one day between 22 euros in Kirchberg on the change of up to 54 percent, which makes a difference of up to 145 percent. Smaller ski areas can offer more attractive alternatives, especially for families.
