Seriously injured: 21-year-old Briton falls 15 meters at photo shoot in Annaberg

A serious accident occurred on Tuesday evening on the sky manager in Annaberg (Hallein district), where a 21-year-old Brit fell around 15 meters in a photo shoot. The incident happened around 9 p.m. when the young man, who was apparently equipped with alpine, solved his fuse and lost his balance. He was accompanied by two friends who were traveling with him on the Donnerkogel via ferrata.

The fall occurred when the man wanted to take photos around 7.15 p.m. At that moment he fell over a steep gravel tie towards Gosausee and finally came to lie after about 40 meters. According to initial information, the Briton suffered serious back injuries and was poorly equipped because it only wore light sports shoes without a suitable profile sole and jeans.

use of the rescue teams

The rescue of the seriously injured was a complex task that required the use of three helicopters. The emergency doctor helicopter "RK-1" of the ARA flight rescue from Fresach (Carinthia), the police helicopter "Libelle" and the emergency medical helicopter "Martin 1" were involved. The managing director of ARA Flugreettung, Thomas Jank, emphasized the special challenges of nightly commitment.

The mountain rescue Annaberg said that the injured person was recovered from the steep area by means of a rope. Since a thaw was not possible, the Brit finally came to safety in a mountain sack with a wind and was flown to the Schwarzach hospital.

a worrying series of accidents

This tragic incident is not the first of its kind. In the past few days there have been several serious accidents in the mountains. On the same day, an 18-year-old fell into his death for 30 meters in a climbing accident at Schneeberg in Lower Austria. A group of mountaineers also had to be saved on the Großglockner because one of the participants complained about pain. The incident in Annaberg is thus involved in a series of regrettable accidents in the Alps that indicate the dangers of the mountains.

The incidents show that despite the joy of outdoor activities, the right equipment and caution when climbing and hiking are essential in order to minimize the risk of serious injuries or even deaths. The mountain rescue guard urges caution and recommends that you always equip yourself optimally and to pay attention to the weather conditions and your own performance.
